In case you do not take Garuda for your domestic flight to Semarang, you need to change from terminal 2 to terminal 1 or 3. So, after taking your luggage, go out from the airport, follow the departure sign, go to the 2nd floor gate and catch the yellow subtle bus driving between terminal 1, 2, and 3. This is a free bus. Tell the driver which air company you are flying with and he will stop you there. Then you just need to check it then.
Please note that the public bus will be operated only up to 10 pm. After this time, you need to get a taxi to go out from the airport. Please take only blue bird or silver bird taxi for your safety reason.

Check the schedule and prices of the train here. You need to buy the ticket directly in the locket in the train station.
How to get to Gambir train station from Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta Airport?
To go to Gambir station (train station in Jakarta) you can go there by subtle bus from the airport called “DAMRI” . You can buy the ticket in the bus service for RP. 20.000,- and take the bus to the direction of Gambir. You can also go there by taxi, but it will cost you more (around Rp. 150.000,-). The bus is available every 15 minutes. It takes you around 1 hour 20 minutes based on the traffic condition.
What if your flight arrives quite late in Jakarta? Where should you stay?
In case your flight arrives in Jakarta quite late, you can stay in the airport hotel or you can go to Jalan Jaksa for cheap accommodation. The transit hotel in Jakarta airport will cost you arround US $ 40. In Jalan Jaksa, you can get the place to stay from the range of Rp. 60.000,- up to Rp. 180.000,- for one night.
To go to Jalam Jaksa, catch “Damri” bus to Gambir for Rp. 15.000,- and take traditional orange cab called bajaj for Rp. 10.000,- from the station to Jalan Jaksa. You can find room easily there and just ask the bajaj driver to take you to some hotels and guess houses available. Be aware with your luggage. Make sure that you do not scatter it on your trip.
Then, if you need to go to the airport the following day, just take bajaj to Gambir and take Damri to Sukarno Hatta airport. Please consider the time because it is quiet long distance and traffic jams occur in day time.
From Sukarno Hatta Airport you need to take DAMRI Airport bus with the last destination of either PULOGADUNG bus terminal, LEBAKBULUS bus terminal, or RAWA MANGUN bus terminal. It costs IDR 20.000 and takes about 1 hour.
- From PULOGADUNG bus terminal
- From LEBAKBULUS bus terminal
- From RAWA MANGUN bus terminal
You may take any brand of bus; just make sure that you take executive or super executive class. It takes about 8-10 hours by bus. It costs about Rp. 200.000 or less. Your destination is SEMARANG, and your stop in Semarang city is COYO KALIBANTENG. Once you arrive there you will see a big banner of PKBI Jateng, about 10 meters high in the left side of the street, follow this banner, because that is the building where IIWC office is.
We can recommend you one trusted night bus it is NUSANTARA. It has morning bust from Jakarta to Semarang depart at 07.00 AM and night bus depart at 04.00 PM. It costs Rp. 150.000. You may check the website at http://www.nu3tara.com/
After arriving in Semarang then you can follow the below direction:
1. From the airport
You can walk from the airport to the office or you can go by taxi. It is only 5 minutes walking from the airport to the office.
To go by walk: (see the picture below from left to right follow the arrow)
So, after taking your luggage and getting off from the arrival gate, take right turn and go straight. You will find houses after the parking lot and a small road crossing a train rail. Go ahead through this street and soon you will see a building with blue roof in your right hand. This is the building of PKBI Jawa Tengah and you can find IIWC’s office in the second floor.
If you go by taxi, tell the taxi driver to take you to kantor PKBI Jawa Tengah Jalan Jambawan Raya No. 8 Semarang. It will take you not more than 10 minutes to reach office and you need to pay Rp. 25.000,- up to Rp. 35.000,- (US $ 3)
2. From Tawang Train Station
It takes around 25-30 minutes from the train station to the office. You need to take taxi and just tell the taxi driver to take you to kantor PKBI at Jalan Jembawan Raya No 8 Kalibanteng Semarang. You need to pay around Rp. 25.000,-up to Rp. 30.000,-
It is better for you to go out first from the train station and grab a dark green taxi called “KOSTI”. Or white Taxi name “Express Taxi”, or sky blue taxi name “Blue Bird Taxi”. These taxi are using Argo meter and they will not cheat you somehow. The yellow taxis parked in the parking lot of the train station usually do not want to use Argo meter and they may charge you more.
3. From COYO Kalibanteng bus stop
Once you arrive there you will see a big banner of PKBI Jateng 50 meters turn left, about 10 meters high in the left side of the street, follow this banner, because that is the building where IIWC office is.
For the travel in Indonesia and “breath taking” destination in this exotic country, you can visit: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/indonesia
Another way to Semarang is via Denpasar, Bali:
- Take the airplane from Denpasar to Surabaya.
- Take a taxi to the railway station of Surabaya (you should pay a toll for the taxi driver).
- Take a train to Semarang. There are only two trains in a day.
- Take a taxi to PKBI office.
We recommend you to take the morning train rather than the night one because it is much more convenient to get a taxi then.
PS. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN LUGGAGE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN ANY AIRPORTS, TRAIN STATIONS, OR BUS TERMINALS IN INDONESIA, OTHERWISE, THE INDONESIAN PORTERS WILL EXPECT SOME MONEY/ EXTRA TIPS FROM YOU. IN CASE YOU NEED A PORTER, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GIVE THE TIPS NOT MORE THAN 1 USD (IDR 10.000).
Hope This Direction Can Help You. Have a Nice Day. And Thank you…
